Alistair Cunningham

Chartered Financial Planner and Financial Planning Director

Alistair is a Chartered Financial Planner and Financial Planning Director, Wingate Financial Planning

Alistair has over 25 years’ experience in financial services, including more than 20 years with Wingate. He joined Wingate’s sister business in 2005 and was a founding director when Wingate Financial Planning was established. Since then, he has played a central role in shaping the firm’s advice-led culture and long-term approach to client planning.

He works with clients across a broad range of circumstances, with particular experience in owner-managed businesses and more complex areas of retirement planning, including pensions and divorce-related matters. Alistair is a member of Wingate’s Investment Committee and is one of the firm’s designated investment managers, with responsibility for overseeing discretionary portfolios.

Alistair is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. He is also a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. His views on retirement, investment and tax planning are regularly sought by the financial press.

Outside work, Alistair enjoys travel, languages and sport. He has a long-standing interest in how people make financial decisions in the real world, particularly when policy, markets or life events create uncertainty. With clients, he is known for a measured, practical approach, a dislike of unnecessary complexity, and a willingness to challenge poor policy or lazy thinking where it affects outcomes.
